Walker (Huffmaster), Florence Mary Age 99, of Edina, MN earned her eternal reward on Good Friday, April 2, 2021. Florence was born on May 29, 1921 in Cavite City, Philippines. While studying at the College of Holy Spirit in Manila, Florence met US Army Sergeant Russell Harvey Walker. They were married in Manila on Dec 7, 1941 and after the war settled in New Hartford, IA. Widowed in 1950, Florence moved to Minneapolis, working as an accountant at Honeywell and later for the U.S. Postal Service where she became the first female auditor with the USPS Office of Inspector General in Minneapolis. Florence was a hands-on grandmother, an avid reader and writer, a regular user of the public library and an unwavering correspondent to family and friends. In addition to her parents, Florence was preceded in death by her husband, sisters Violet and Marian, son John, infant grandsons Clay and John, great granddaughter Elle. She will be remembered by her son Paul Walker (Elizabeth), daughter Malia Gianni, six grandchildren Chad Poets, Joel Poets (Julie), Elissa Poets, Orion Walker Hazard (Jamie), Keely Walker Muse (Wynn), Lannie Walker (David), and six great grandchildren, Spenser, Haley, Tuesday, Jasen, Ramona and Ocean, as well as nieces, nephews, and friends. Visitation will be held from 2-3pm on Thursday, May 6, 2021 at St. Richard's Catholic Church in Richfield, and Mass will follow at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Florence's name to St. Richard's Catholic Church, Richfield, MN.
