Bergquist, Lorraine Genevieve (Herman) Age 87, was born March 12, 1933 in Waukon, IA to Roland and Alma Herman. She died March 4, 2021 in Minneapolis. A graduate of Waukon High School, she attended Luther College in Decorah, IA, and later graduated from Augsburg College in Minneapolis with a degree in Religion. Throughout her vocational journey, Lorraine held many positions within the Lutheran Church, including parish secretary in Mason City, IA, administrative assistant and docu-mentarian during the formation of the ELCA, and assistant to the Bishop in Eastern North Dakota. She partnered with her husband, Rev. James Bergquist, in parish ministry in Los Angeles, Honolulu and Moorhead, as well as while missionaries in India and serving interim positions in Hong Kong and New Zealand. While living in England, Lorrie took a job with Tennis World Magazine, particularly enjoying Wimbledon. She worked with the Ohio Nurses' Association in Columbus. Her organizational and relational prowess made her a valued colleague. Lorrie delighted in using her creativity through writing, cross stitch, knitting and strawberry rhubarb jam. An avid reader and lifelong scholar, books were a passion. She shared her sense of humor, wisdom and warmth generously. Lorrie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jim, whom she married May 14, 1955. Children Bob (Neena) Bergquist, Kris (John) Haugo, Mark (Sue) Bergquist and Kathleen (Gary) Bergquist Bilonta, fourteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren brought joy and pride to her life. Sisters Norma Jeanne Brown and Mary Bergquist, along with numerous relatives and friends, remain to remember a life well lived. Blessed be her memory.
