Mayeron, Ethel Hartman age 98, of St. Paul died February 15, 2021. Ethel was born on May 17, 1922, in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, the youngest of eight children. Following graduation from St. Paul Central High School, she worked in a number of positions until she married Len Mayeron on October 21, 1945. She was a member of a numerous organizations, including Hadassah, B'Nai B'rith, the St. Paul Jewish Community Center and Mount Zion Temple. In addition to being a wonderful wife and mom, friend and "second mom" to so many people of all ages, Ethel was notable in many ways. She was one of the very first female realtors in the Twin Cities, starting her career at age 40. She retired in her late 70s, having spent the bulk of her time at Edina Realty, where she won many awards for being the top sales person in her office. She loved to fish for sunnies and crappies with a drop line; she was the consummate baker - at every visit you would be given her famous mondel bread, poppy seed cookies, or hamantaschens in a tin (the tin had her name on the bottom - if you returned it to her, she would give you another batch); she was a voracious reader of books, magazines, and many newspapers; she was a political junky, reminding anyone who complained of the political state of our country or world that "this too shall pass - like a big kidney stone." But what Ethel will be most remembered for was her deep love of family and her "eternal optimism." Ethel's glass was 100% full - everything she experienced was "the best" and she shared her optimism with everyone. Ethel was a mensch and will be missed greatly by her family and all who knew her. Ethel was preceded in death by parents, Morris and Rose Hartman; husband, Leonard; siblings, Fanny Krupp, Samuel Hartman, Marion Mayeron, Max Hartman, John Hartman, Bernie Paper and Nina Desnick; sisters-in-law, Annette Goodman, Ruth Hartman, Josephine Hartman, Betty Hartman, Thelma Mayeron, Ruth Mayeron, Gloria Mayeron and Edna Mayeron; and brothers-in-law, David Krupp, Baron Desnick, Charlie Paper, Ben Mayeron, Art Mayeron, Harry Mayeron, Don Mayeron and Jerry Mayeron. Ethel is survived by son, Dennis "DH"; daughter, Janie Mayeron (Jim Lockhart); grandson, Tom Lockhart (Kate Lentz- Lockhart); great grandchildren, Keira and James Lockhart; grandson Pete Lockhart (Yossy Arefi-Afshar); grand dog, Zoe; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Many thanks to all the caregivers who attended to Ethel in the last few months. Their incredible kindness, love and attention allowed Ethel to live her final months at home with grace and dignity.
