Burgess, Mary Joan (McHugo) Age 83, of Spring Park, MN (formerly Plymouth). After an amazing life filled with God's love and favor, our forever young mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many, "Mimi" passed away peacefully on December 14, 2020. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Francis and Deloris Mary Keiffer McHugo, brothers Tim and Dave McHugo, sister Lynne Dischinger, and infant son Morgan Gerard Burgess. Mary is deeply missed and survived by her loving children Dennis "DJ" (Jane) Burgess of Minnetonka Beach, MN, Elizabeth Irvine of Boulder CO, Ralph "RJ" (Jolene) Burgess of Hamel, MN, and Molly Burgess of Minneapolis, MN, 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, who affectionately called her "Mother Mary, Grandma Mimi Beauty Queenie," the father of her children, Dennis (Annebeth) Burgess of Tucson, AZ, and her cherished siblings Judy (Art) Solie, Theresa McHugo, Pat (Judy) McHugo, Rita McHugo, John (Thanh) McHugo, Kate (Ron) Miller, Lorie (Jim) McLellan, and Sue (Daryl) Jolson, sister-in-law Michelle McHugo, brother-in-law Denny Dischinger all of MN. The oldest of 12 children, Mary was raised in Kenwood and Bryn Mawr, graduating from The Basilica School and St. Margaret's Academy. She learned early on the importance of love, joy, sharing, generosity, and humor. Known as a caring and patient, intent listener, and not one to give up, Mary's strong sense of commitment, determination, and endurance served her well throughout her life. After raising her children, Mary graduated from college and began her vast and rewarding careers spanning many sectors from the medical/ human service field as a leading chemical dependency counselor and educator, to working at her son's IT and Manufacturing businesses, GoIWx and Burgess Industries, Inc. Most recently, Mary joined Super Value working at Cub Foods as the well-known demo gal serving samples while increasing customer satisfaction and the store's bottom line. Health and fitness were always a priority, and Mary never lost her youthful sense of adventure, determination, and beauty. Her life was blessed beyond words with loving parents, her large, close-knit, extended family, love of music, animals, friends, the great outdoors, running, biking, mountain hiking, wilderness camping, and her unwavering faith. Above all, Mary treasured being a mother and important part of her children's lives. A Celebration in honor of Mary's life will take place this summer with details to follow.
