Illig, Clifford H. of Excelsior MN made his journey to be with our lord God Jan. 31st, 2021. Cliff grew up in Glencoe MN. He spent many days in his youth on his granddads farm, learning from him and his uncle "Benny" who he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years Sandra (Kroeger) Illig, who he went to kindergarten and senior prom with. Cliff was involved in sports all his life. He played baseball in high school and college. He also played basketball & football. He coached his daughter's softball team and through his patient and encouraging coaching style he not only led the team to take the state tournament but also ushered them onto nationals. He touched many young lives and gave the girls the confidence they needed to meet their full potential. While he started off college in forestry, when he married the love of his life, (Sandy) he worked with Honeywell for 40+ years. They chose to make their life near the water and extended family in Excelsior, MN. The place he enjoyed the most was the family cabin, which he built by hand with family members and dear friends. Enjoying the outdoors hunting, fishing, playing cards and continuing to teach his children and grandchildren the joy of the simple things in life. In his quiet, strong, patient way, you knew you could always count on him to help. He will be missed by many and all were better for knowing him. Cliff is survived by daughters Dava (Rundles) Illig, Shari Illig, Jacque Illig, his four grandchildren and five great grandchildren, brother Milan Illig. Service and celebration of life will take place at a future date. Please connect on his Facebook page Cliff Illig for updates.
