Eastman, Johanna (Krueger) Joey entered the Realms of Glory on November 23 at age 86. After struggling with Alzheimer's disease for several years, God's mercy and grace has prevailed. Born in a farmhouse near Delano, Minnesota to Albert and Elna Krueger on September 4, 1934, Joey lived much of her early life with her parents and sister, Millie, on a farm south of Maple Plain. She attended Mound public schools for thirteen years and after graduating, she began working for J. R. Clark Company in Spring Park. In 1954 Joey was hired by The Prudential, where she met a farm boy, her future husband, Curt Eastman. They were married in February 1956 and in the next six and a half years were blessed with four children - Jessie, Jennie, John and Jackie. While nurturing her children and managing a household, Joey also worked part-time for Carlson Company for twenty five years. A very talented seamstress, Joey proudly extolled the virtues of her 1953 Singer sewing machine which she bought after graduation. With that marvelous machine, she sewed many wedding gowns, including her own, and most of her daughters' clothes during their school years. Joey loved cooking, especially holiday dinners and creating those awesome cake donuts. She also enjoyed gardening and playing cards. She traveled with Curt to all fifty states and most of the Canadian provinces - all, except Hawaii, by auto. A highlight trip was their drive to Alaska in 2009. Joey was an enthusiastic camper with her family, especially tenting and trout fishing in the mountains of Wyoming. And her love for singing and dancing knew no bounds. Preceded in death by her parents, Joey is survived by her husband, Curt, children Jessie (Heron Diana) Eastman, Jennie Eastman, John Eastman and Jackie (Tom) Mattfeld, sister Millie (Dick) Benjamin and many loving relatives and friends. A celebration of her life is being planned for next year. Memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church in Long Lake, Minnesota.
