Demetriou, Demetrios T. Born in Burgas, Bulgaria on January 13 1939. Passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 29, 2020. A proud Greek patriarch, he adored his family and was actively involved in their daily lives. He emigrated to the US in 1957, arriving in St. Paul in April without understanding a word of English. By that September, he was enrolled in Macalester College. Still learning, he translated his textbook from Greek to English to finish his assignments and proudly graduated in 4 years. A true entrepreneur, he followed a successful career at Control Data to become the newest Greek tycoon in Twin Cities apartment buildings. Fiercely proud of his Greek heritage, he never missed an opportunity to educate the non-Greeks on the Hellenic history of the world. Preceded in death by his parents, Theodoros and Ekaterini (Evangelou) Demetriou. Survived by the love of his life, Martha (Speltz), his wife of 54 years. Further survived by his children Laura (Mark) Mahoney, Mark, and James Preston (JP). Such a proud Papou to Elizabeth, Conor, and Catherine. Brother to Maria (the late Gary) Paradise. Brother-in-law to the late Mary and Jim Keller, Nora (Roger) Pearson, and Jane (Lowell) Baerenwald. Devoted to all of his Greek cousins in Minnesota, California, Athens, and Burgas. Visitation to be held Monday, November 2nd from 4pm to 8pm at Washburn-McReavy Albin Eden Prairie Chapel, 7625 Mitchell Road (952-975-0400). In lieu of flowers, donations appreciated in his honor to St. George Greek Orthodox Church (1111 Summit Ave, St. Paul, MN) or Pax Christi Catholic Church (12100 Pioneer Trail Eden Prairie, MN). Private burial service to be held at Pax Christi Catholic Church, Eden Prairie.
