Benson, David Fadell "With the help of God and true friends, I come to realize; I still had two strong legs and even wings to fly." -Allman Brothers. Surrounded by close family, Dave's spirit peacefully left his body on Friday, October 16. Dave was a dedicated father, husband, son, brother, friend, coach, fisherman, painter, musician, outdoorsman, neighbor, Outward Bound instructor, sled dog handler, artist, gardener, and citizen. Dave's spirituality drove his approach to living with an open mind, loving heart, and enduring sense of wonder. He approached others with compassion and respect; he role modeled what it really means to love thy neighbor. Dave was a leader who led with optimism and positivity heard in simple, but endlessly repeated, phrases like - 'yeah man'; 'right on'; 'exactly'; and 'good action'. Dave had a strong relationship with the earth and felt closest to God on Lake Superior. Dave's spiritual center was the family homestead on Rocky Island where he fished all morning, worked all day, played guitar all night, and spent meaningful time with those he loved most. In death, Dave has been reunited with his father, Brady. On earth, Dave's loving spirit will continue to surround his wife Beth; daughters Isabella (18) and Samone (15); mother Kathleen (Richard), brothers Tom, John (Michelle), and Michael (Amy); his nieces and nephews; and countless other loved ones whose paths have been deeply impacted by the privilege to share time on this earth with David Benson. There will be a live and streamed celebration of Dave's life on Thursday October 29th at 11am Central. For extended family and friends, a dedicated Zoom event has been created. Please email: weloveyoudave@gmail.com for the Zoom link. Those wishing to express their love for Dave and support for the family are encouraged to send memorials to The David Benson Memorial Fund at Minnesota Bank and Trust, 9800 Bren Rd E, Suite 200, Minnetonka MN, 55343.
