Drehmel, Elwood "Wayne" age 83, of Apple Valley, MN passed away on June 11, 2020. Survived by wife, Scarlett Drehmel, Daughter Kathy Comstock, Daughter Kristi Meckley (Thomas), Son Gregory Drehmel (Betsy) and nine grandchildren Jeremy, Aaron, Rachel, Sarah, Noah, Abigail, Rebekah, Elianna and Brogan. Wayne was born in Euclid, MN and raised in Badger, MN. He was schooled in a one room school-house with a dirt floor where he was the only student in his grade through high school. He left his hometown after high school to pursue getting an education. As a young man, Wayne served in the army. He obtained his bachelor's in economics, master's in public administration and his Ph.D. in Educational Administration at the University of Minnesota. Wayne worked at the State of Minnesota in the Department of Revenue and Human Resources, Control Data and then the University of Minnesota Medical School's dean's office for the last 32 years of his career where he had great respect for the institution and his colleges. He also worked as a consultant to the National Institutes of Health, Heart, Lung and Blood Institute and taught Public Finance Administration at the University of Minnesota, School of Public Affairs under the Continuing Education and Extension Program. Wayne was individually selfless, patient and kind, while always choosing to serve the needs of his family and others.Wayne was a devoted husband and father. He was the pillar in our family that we turned to and is the reason we all are where we are today - "we miss you and we are grateful for all that you did for us".
