Grondahl (Gruidl), Barbara Jean Barbara Jean Grondahl (Gruidl), 73, a resident of Bloomington for 50 years, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2020, in her home. Born in Minneapolis, Barb was the daughter of Carl and Esther (Opelia) Gruidl. She attended St. Helena Catholic School and Regina Catholic High School in Minneapolis. She also attended Thornton Junior College in Chicago. She married John Grondahl on September 24, 1966, and moved to Chicago where her first son, Michael, was born. Barb and John returned to Minnesota in 1969, settling in Bloomington where her son, Mark, and daughter, Amy, were born. Barb was a member of Nativity of Mary Catholic Church and treasured her Catholic faith. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, spending her days caring for her family and home, preparing delicious meals that were enjoyed by family and friends, and volunteering in her community. Barb excelled in her role as an administrative assistant and event coordinator for the Twin Cities Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors, from which she retired in 2011. She loved to travel and was especially fond of Paris. She also spent many happy weekends up north at her cabin, and looked forward to welcoming whomever visited. She took great joy in her family, and had a special love for each of her children and grandchildren. Barb was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her beloved husband, John, and three devoted children; Mike (Rachel) Grondahl, grandchildren, Emily, Katie, Jack, Lucy, and Liza; Mark (Katie) Grondahl, grandchildren Jack, Grace, & Claire; Amy (James) O'Connor, grandchildren James, Catherine, Patrick, Margaret, and David. She also leaves behind her brother, John Gruidl of Naturita, Colorado, & her sister, Mary Leedham of Elk River, MN, along with nieces and nephews. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM at Nativity of Mary Catholic Church in Bloomington, MN, on September 9, 2020. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, with interment following at St. Mary's Cemetery, Minneapolis, and a luncheon at the Bloomington KC Hall, 1114 American Boulevard West.
