Etta was caring, compassionate, and disciplined with a sharp mind up to the end. A competitive person, Etta loved gambling and playing cards, especially bridge and cribbage. Etta played a mean game of bridge before COVID ruined that fun. She walked outside in all kinds of weather and once, while waiting to have her car fixed, she walked the dealership parking lot only to be stopped by a concerned policeman who was informed that this was her daily exercise. She was on many bowling leagues and appeared on "Bowling for Dollars". Etta made cakes for the parish carnivals, using a lamb mold she purchased in the 1930's. These cakes were sold but rarely offered to the public since the bake sale ladies "saved" them for themselves. Avid Vikings fans, Etta and Budd attended all four Vikings Super Bowls. Etta worked part-time as a dental assistant. After retirement Etta and Budd spent summers at Lake Minnewawa, where Etta was known as the "fish lady" for her ability to filet a Northern Pike without bones.
