Hamilton, Linda Ruth (Waagen)
was born on May 26, 1957 at Eitel Hospital in Minneapolis, MN and passed away on June 26, 2020 in Burnsville, MN at the age of 63 from Kidney failure.
She grew up in Minneapolis, graduated from Richfield High School, received an AA degree in Psychology from Kirkwood Community College, IA, then attended Mt. Mercy College, IA and Concordia College, MN.
She was passionate about reading and involved with many book clubs throughout her life. Her love of poetry and writing led her to attend the Iowa Writers Summer Workshop. She was a member of Romance Writers of America, Midwest Fiction Writers and recently was the VP of Programs for Romancing the Lakes of Minnesota Writers. Her ultimate pride was publishing a story, The Letter, in the Romancing the Lakes of Minnesota Summer Anthology.
Her love of making Lefse and Rommegrot, family Norwegian traditions, led to publishing her own cookbook, Nordic Recipes. Every summer for Norway Day at Minnehaha Park in Minneapolis, she could be found at the Nordic Treats booth selling her Lefse, Rommegrot and Nordic Recipe cookbooks with her sisters, Sonja and Rose Marie.
Linda was extremely proud of her Norwegian heritage and loved to wear her Norwegian sweaters and her Norwegian Bunad that were gifts from her parents. She belonged to the Sons of Norway and Daughters of Norway groups and attended many of her father's Norwegian Glee Club Concerts, Sangerfests and Lutefisk Dinners.
She spent endless hours compiling ancestry information from her father's family in Norway and her mother's family from Germany.
Her other hobbies were collecting and watching practically anything that had to do with Star Trek and the Titanic.
She is survived by her mother, Alice (Haase) Waagen; Siblings: Rose Marie (Dennis Bartholow) Meuwissen, Norman (Karen) Waagen, Sonja (Andrew) Gunter, Paul Waagen, Richard (Nancy Adams) Waagen; Nieces and Nephews: Shane Meuwissen, Tiffany (Travis) Warford, Cassandra (James) Papin, Blaze Waagen, Aubrey (Donald) Bennett, Travis (Jamie) Pfeiffer, Rikky Waagen, Mercedes (Thomas) Smith, Tryg Waagen.
Husband: John; Children: John, Christina and Bryan; Grandchildren: John, Benjamin and Destany.
Predeceased by her father, Sverre Waagen; Nephew: Danton Gunter; Grandparents: Carl and Bertha Haase, Gabriel and Gyda Waagen.
Celebration of Life to be held in 2021.
