Nelson, Karin Natalie (Hage) Karin Nelson, 81, died peacefully on May 31st at The Estates of St. Louis Park where she lived this past year battling Lewy Body Dementia. She struggled with dementia for 6 1/2 years when she was overcome with COVID-19. She joined her husband on their wedding anniversary on May 31, 2020, when the Peonies bloom and were the flowers of choice for their wedding. She is survived by her daughter, Kristi Nelson of St. Louis Park, MN, son Darrell Nelson of Blaine, MN and daughter Kerri Nelson, of St. Anthony, MN and four grandsons Travis Nelson, David Nelson, Nick Nelson and Matt Nelson and two great granddaughters, Alexa and Lilly. She is survived by her brothers Tury Hage of Edgewater, Florida and Jim Hage of Columbia Heights, MN, plus many cousins and friends. Preceded in death by her husband Dale Nelson, baby David Nelson, mother Luella Hage and father Manford Hage. Karin spent her school years living on Medicine Lake in a house her father built, that is still there today, and graduated from Wayzata high school. She went on to live in Minneapolis and attended Minneapolis School of Business where she met her husband Dale. She got a secretarial job at the probation office at the courthouse in downtown Minneapolis until she married and became a mom-her dream! She loved being a mother and was always known as being very sweet. In her own words, she said her whole life she was a "goody two shoes" and Jesus was so glad to welcome this goody two shoes home. She enjoyed raising her family in Columbia Heights and making homemade cookies, rice pudding and banana bread ready for her kids when they got home from school. When her husband Dale retired they moved to Belle Vista, Arkansas and enjoyed golfing and tennis, and liked having parties in their big sun porch. She moved back to Minnesota upon Dales passing. She loved living at her condo in Aquilla Commons as it was the first time in her life she ever lived in her very own place. It was a special place for her. She will be missed by many friends and cousins including her cousin Ole Hage who ran Hage Concrete after his dad Orville passed away who started the company in his garage. Her grandparents came from Norway and she honored her Norwegian heritage. She enjoyed making homemade lefse and blood klub from receipes from her mother. She even visited Norway with her mother and aunt which was a trip of a lifetime and was a member of Sons of Norway for a while. In the last year of her life she enjoyed coloring and sitting at the nurses station and "helping" the nurses out as she used to be a secretary many years ago. She will be surely missed by many but forever in everyones heart as such a sweet person to have known. Celebration of life on July 12, the day before her 82nd birthday. More details to follow but we will be at Pavilion #2 and thinking 11:00am-2:00pm. We would love to hear your stories about Karins life.
