Meyer, Lillian At the age of 95, Lillian Meyer of Fridley, MN passed away. She is survived by sons Ed (wife Barb), Don and Ken. Lillian was born in Minneapolis and lived in the Twin Cities her entire life. She was married to John Meyer for over 67 years until the time of his death in 2013. She greatly valued her close relationships with her sisters and brother, her nephews and nieces and their families. She had a radiant personality and a contagious smile to match. She brought people together and lifted them up. She never lost her active concern for others and demonstrated it in countless ways. Her passion for medicine inspired her to become a registered nurse where she worked in operating rooms and organic brain injury wards at different points in time. She was involved throughout her adult life in community activities where she served in leadership positions. She was active in the Richfield and Fridley League of Women Voters (LWV), the Council of Metropolitan Area Leagues, the Fridley History Center and was a founder of the Anoka County Brotherhood Council (ACBC) Free Store. For her decades of community engagement and leadership, she was inducted into the Fridley Hall of Fame in 2007. She was very "hands on," and seemed able to build and fix almost anything. She took sculpting classes from an accomplished instructor. Overall, she completed about 60 sculptures from marble, soapstone, granite, and various types of wood. She enjoyed playing the piano, learned Norwegian in her middle years, loved Bridge, was an avid golfer into her 80's and traveled to every continent except Antarctica. A favorite motto: "If you can't say something nice about someone, say nothing at all." By the end of a very full life, she was loved by so many and will be so dearly missed. Her memorial service is planned for St. Phillips Lutheran Church in Fridley, MN, but due to CoVid-19 will be an online-only event. lillian-memorial.com
