Greenlee, Verne Kenneth of Minneapolis, age 78, died unexpectedly on September 2nd, 2019. Verne was born January 27, 1941 in Ashland Wisconsin to Esther (née Hoffman) and Ken Greenlee. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and long-time friend Thomas Arlander. Verne led a rich, varied life working as a hotel clerk, hospital orderly, medical photographer, chemical dependency counselor, actor, and landlord. He was also a horseman, a runner, a hiker, a cook, and a motorcyclist. Verne will be remembered by most for his outgoing personality, his easy smile and ready laugh as well as his deep empathy. Verne is survived by his husband, Lee Klement, his sister, Betty Urban, his nephew, Jim Urban, and his niece, Carol Turnquist. He died in his sleep of natural causes at his cabin on Lake Superior the sound of its waves in his ears. His health had been excellent and all signs indicate an untroubled death. There is great comfort in these things. Memorials in Verne's name can be sent to the Superior Hiking Trail Association. Gifts can be made online at superiorhiking.org/donate or by mail to 731 Seventh Ave, Suite 2, Two Harbors, MN 55616. A gathering in his memory will be held at a later date.
