Hartley, Everett Charles, "Chuck" Jr. age 87, died August 19, 2019, surrounded by his family. Preceded in death by his parents and sister, Jane. A graduate of the Breck School, which was then an all boys military prep academy located on Como Avenue, Chuck actually learned to ride horses at the school's stables. He joined the Navy soon after graduation, ultimately deploying with the 1st Marine Division to Korea, where he served as a medic and was awarded the Purple Heart. Everett loved the written word and spent a life time reading, writing and editing just about everything imaginable from promotional materials to fishing magazines, newspaper articles, ad copy and novels. A longtime employee of WCCO Radio, Everett worked tirelessly on PR campaigns that ranged from the CCO' State Fair experience to barnstorming bus trips with Boone and Erickson. A great organizer, he spent many years leading youth organizations such as WAHA and LARC in South Minneapolis, supporting his kids' passions. He always said his time on Fremont Avenue, raising his family, was his happiest. Everett spent his last years at Walker Methodist Care Center and the staff at Walker has our greatest thanks for their friendship and care, allowing Everett to maintain his independence and dignity. Survived by children, Bret (Susan Bach), Grant (Kristin), and Blaire (Joe Sweet): beloved grandchildren, Sydney Olson (Marc), Zachary Hartley, Dugan and Mara Sweet and Lauren, Valerie and Caroline Hartley: great-granddaughter, Olivia Olson: former wife, Whitney Hartley and sister, Anne Hartley. A private burial will be held. Memorials to Walker Methodist Health Care Center on Bryant Avenue in Minneapolis in Everett's name are welcomed.
