Bourn, David Lee HOLLYWOOD PREMIERE David Lee Bourn of Minneapolis, proprietor of Hollywood Premiere Searchlight Advertising Company passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 27th, 2019 at the age of 77 years old. Dave's lifelong passion was carbon-arc searchlights and for more than fifty years, he lit up the night skies of Minneapolis. He was one of the last carbon-arc searchlight operators in the country. Dave was also a lifelong film projectionist, stagehand & member of the International Alliance of Theatrical and Stage Employees. He worked on the set of Purple Rain and at one time operated the 65-Hi Drive-In in Blaine, MN. For decades he serviced and operated follow-spotlights at First Ave, the State Fair's Coliseum and Grandstand, as well as the Metrodome. Dave enjoyed tinkering with and restoring a variety of projects. He loved visiting with community members, Baker's Square, and sailing at Lake Calhoun. Dave is preceded in death by father (Richard Bourn), mother (Elizabeth Bourn), and sister (Margaret Thielges). He is survived by his children, (Brian Bourn), (Bradley Bourn), (Elizabeth Johnson) and grandchildren (Alexander and Katherine Johnson). Follow the searchlights to a celebration of Dave's life on April 13th, 2019 at Broadway Pizza from 7:00pm-9:30pm at 2025 W. River Road in Minneapolis.
