Johnston, Michael David June 20, 1955 - Nov 12, 2018 Michael is survived by his wife of 40 years, Bonnie Landrum MD, his two sons Andrew (Maria Golubkova) and William, his daughter Emma, and two brothers Mark and Dan. Michael was born at Edwards Air Force Base in California and grew up in England, France, Germany and multiple locations in the United States. In 1972 he graduated from Kecoughtan High School in Hampton, VA. From 1972-1978 Michael attended the University of Texas at Austin, where he earned a BA in French Studies and an MA in Applied Linguistics. After marrying the love of his life in 1978 and moving to Minneapolis, MN in 1979, Michael did graduate work in Curriculum and Instructional Systems (CISy) at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. He also taught Computer Assisted Instruction as a Lecturer in the U of M Department of Education for over a decade. Michael was a founding member of two software development companies (Discourse and Interactive Illusions), where he worked for nearly 30 years. In 2012 Michael completed a certificate program at the Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts, and applied his skills as a Chef in catering and non-profit fundraising events. Michael was a lover of art and music. He was a musician and a craftsman. More than just a loving father, he was his children's best friend. More than just a dedicated husband, he was a rock. More than just a terrific brother and a dear friend to so many, he was an exceptional person. MEMORIAL SERVICES will be held in summer 2019, date and location to be determined. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations in Michael's name be made to the Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI) Foundation (oif.org) and No Kid Hungry (nokidhungry.org), two organizations which were dear to his heart.
