Smith, Leslie Elizabeth Age 76, beloved mother, wife, sister, grandmother, teacher and friend was welcomed into God's arms on November 4th, 2018. Born on September 9, 1942 in Omaha, Nebraska to Margaret and Glenn P. Kennedy, Leslie graduated from Annunciation School (1956), Holy Angels (1960) and the University of Minnesota (1964) with a Bachelor of Science degree. She married her first husband, John Dunne, on June 19, 1965 while teaching at Douglas Elementary in Minneapolis where she continued to substitute teach while she raised her two girls. Leslie married Richard C. Smith on November 16, 1979 and they enjoyed 34 years of marriage. They traveled and spent time at the cabin on Lake Edward with family and friends. She was a lifelong teacher and mentor who taught for 35 years before retiring from Annunciation in 2011, continuing to substitute teach and participate in school events after retirement. Her greatest joys were teaching, spending time with family, dogs and all things in nature. Preceded in death by husband, Richard C. Smith; father, Glenn P. Kennedy; mother, Margaret Kennedy; brother, Peter Kennedy. Survived by daughters, Sarah Moses (Curt), Bridget Jaeger (Peter); grandchildren, Nick and Kennedy Jaeger; brother, Todd Kennedy (Cheri); niece, Samantha and nephew, Nathan; brother, Jeff Kennedy (LaVonne); nephews, Christopher and Justin; and loving family, Deb Anderson (Ed Herzog), John Smith (Dawn), Mike Smith (Marilyn), Mark Smith (Julia), Peter Smith (Maria); 11 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Deep gratitude to family and close friends who helped more than they realize. Heartfelt thanks to the staff at Walker Care Suites, who lovingly cared for Leslie; Dr. Rachel Lerner and staff at Frauenshuh Cancer Center; the medical teams and staff at Methodist Hospital and Park Nicollet; as well as to the community of Annunciation parish and school. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 am on November 9, 2018 at Annunciation Catholic Church, 509 W. 54th St, Minneapolis. Visitation from 9:30 to 11:00 prior to service. Luncheon to follow. Interment at Resurrection Cemetery. Memorials preferred to Annunciation School.
