Moeller, Donald Alan was born in Davenport, IA, on July 31, 1925. He died on October 7, 2018, in Saint Paul, MN. Don served in the Navy from 1943-1946 and attended Northwestern University and the Harvard Business School as part of the Navy V-12 program. He then worked for several years in public accounting, earning a CPA in 1950. In 1955 he was hired by Homestead Federal Savings & Loan in Dayton, OH, where he worked until his retirement in 1989, five years after the Homestead merged with Citizens Federal Savings and Loan. Rising through the ranks at the Homestead, he served as the President of the Homestead from 1980-1984. In 1976-1977 he served as the President of the Financial Managers' Society, a national organization for financial officers in savings and loans. He served on the board of Dayton Children's Medical Center 1975-1983 and as Board Chair 1979-1980. He volunteered for ten years at the Kettering Medical Center. He was an avid bridge player and achieved Life Master status in 1973. He served on the board of the American Contract Bridge League 1973-1998 as well as in various officer positions in local and regional bridge organizations. He loved nature, especially bison and moose, and made many trips to national parks in the West and in Alaska. He was also an avid Chicago Cubs fan for his entire life and was thrilled when the Cubs won the World Series in 2016. In May 2017 he moved to Saint Paul, MN, to be near his children and grandchildren and had an enjoyable sixteen months living in the Twin Cities and exploring the Upper Midwest. He is survived by his children, Cindy Moeller and Chris Moeller (Sarah Maas); his grandchildren, Steffen Moeller (Jennifer) and Jenny Moeller (Tom Christ); and his great grandson, Theo Christ, all of whom live in the Twin Cities Metro area. He is also survived by his beloved wife of 20 years, Joan Paddock Moeller, who lives in a memory care facility in Centerville, Ohio. He was predeceased by his parents, Arnold Dewey Moeller and Anna Helen Dall Moeller, both of Davenport, IA; his first wife, Miriam Graybill Woessner of Dayton, OH; and his two sisters, Janet Neukam of Los Gatos, CA, and Diane Moeller of New York City. Memorials may be made to Dayton Children's Hospital or to the Belwin Conservancy in Afton, MN.
