Man found shot to death in St. Paul early Tuesday

A man was found shot to death early Tuesday in the Dayton's Bluff neighborhood of St. Paul, authorities said.

An anonymous caller contacted police about 3:30 a.m. and said there was a dead man in the 800 block of E. 4th Street, police said.

Officers found the man with a gunshot wound, police added.

While authorities have yet to say whether the man was found inside a home or somewhere outside, officers entered one of the residences in the block.

No arrests have been announced.

The Ramsey County medical examiner's office is working to identify the man.

Several neighbors on the block said they didn't hear anything that sounded like gunshots overnight. Neighbors were mixed about what they thought about safety in the area.

Another woman, who also didn't want her name reported for the same reasons, said that after three years, she's ready to move. "There's too much stuff happening," she said.

She has heard arguing and partying noises come from the home that was the focus of investigators Tuesday.

"I really have had no problems here," said Greg Lehman, 52, a tattoo artist who has lived on the block for about 20 years. "It's a very diverse neighborhood. There might be a few bad apples here or there. A lot of it is probably mostly rental properties, I'm guessing. But other than that, I don't have no problems."
