Deflategate has MLB more mindful of its baseballs

Trying to be proactive and learn from the NFL's mistakes — if trusting that teams won't deflate footballs is a mistake — Major League Baseball has reportedly beefed up the security profile around the pregame handling of baseballs.

Though baseballs cannot be deflated, as a couple of players have noted, there is the potential (I guess) for pregame scuffing that would give a pitcher an edge.

As such, an MLB representative keeps an eye on them while they are transported to the field, and there is a nine-step process for how the baseballs are supposed to be handled.
