Garofalo's bite

Since her breakout roles in '90s flicks "Reality Bites" and "The Truth About Cats and Dogs," Janeane Garofalo has become one of our more politically outspoken comics. But without shying away from social critique, Garofalo's stand-up isn't nearly as polarizing as her stint on Air America Radio might suggest. The actress endeared to Gen Xers recently jumped ship on Bravo's first scripted series, "Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce," midway through the first season, but she's reliable on tour.

Trance Russian style

Since coming up under Above & Beyond's Anjunabeats wing, Russian producer Arty has expanded his trance-rooted sound. While tracks such as "Flashback" and "Night Like This" retain the blissful atmospheric elements of Arty's earlier Mat Zo collaborations, "Up All Night" is pure big-room candy. However, the latter likely plays well for fans at his Las Vegas residency or his label bosses at Interscope's dance imprint Insomniac Records. The rising club star hits Minneapolis on Saturday.
