The Wild signed first-round pick Matt Dumba on Thursday. The defenseman, who turns 18 on Wednesday, will return to Red Deer of the Western Hockey League if he doesn't make the team this fall.
His contract is for three years and worth $2.75 million if he plays in the NHL. He was the seventh overall pick in last month's draft.
The 6-foot, 185-pounder from Calgary had 20 goals and 37 assists in 69 games for Red Deer last season and was captain of Team Canada's under-18 team. He is a prime candidate for the Canadian junior national team this fall.

Wolves win in Vegas Derrick Williams scored 23 points on 6-for-14 shooting and the Timberwolves improved to 2-1 in Las Vegas Summer League play by beating the Cleveland Cavaliers 78-65. Coby Karl, the son of Denver coach George Karl, added 18 points, making six of seven three-point attempts. Wes Johnson did not play.
Larson wins Aquatennial Tony Larson of Minneapolis won the men's singles for the third consecutive year at the Aquatennial Tennis Classic at One Financial Plaza, defeating Notre Dame sophomore Wyatt McCoy 7-5, 6-4 on Thursday.
Erik Donley and Imke Reimers won the mixed doubles title, defeating Alexa Palen and John Pratt 6-3, 6-0, for their third consecutive championship.
The men's doubles went to McCoy and Juan Pablo Ramirez of the Gophers, who beat Gophers teammates Eric Frueh and Brendan Ruddock 4-6, 7-5, 1-0 (7).
The women's final between Hannah Dake and Melanie Yates is at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, followed by the women's doubles finals where Reimers and Lindsay Risebrough meet Marina McCollom and Paulina Castillejo.
Dearring to Wisconsin Riley Dearring, a 6-5 guard for Minnetonka, gave a verbal commitment to the Wisconsin men's basketball team. He averaged 14.5 points for the Skippers last season.
