Favre, Harvin sit out

Quarterback Brett Favre and wide receiver Percy Harvin did not take part in the Vikings' outdoor practice on Wednesday at Winter Park.

Harvin sat out because of an ankle injury suffered on Sunday in the Vikings' loss at New England. What kept Favre out? Take your pick. He was listed with foot, ankle and chin injuries.

Favre almost certainly missed because he is still dealing with a stress fracture in his left ankle and a fracture in the same heel. Despite those injuries he was able to start his NFL-record 292nd consecutive start in a row.

Favre had to leave the game in the fourth quarter after taking a helmet to the chin and opening up a cut on his chin that required 10 stitches. Favre indicated Wednesday that he had passed a concussion test. He is expected to start again Sunday against the Cardinals.

It's unknown if Harvin will be ready to go, although coach Brad Childress sounded hopeful on Monday.

The Vikings had six players limited in practice Wednesday, including cornerbacks Chris Cook (quadriceps), Frank Walker (hamstring) and Lito Sheppard (hand). Linebacker Ben Leber (knee), defensive tackle Pat Williams (elbow) and offensive lineman Chris DeGeare (ankle) also were limited.

Cornerback Asher Allen (back) and center John Sullivan (calf) were listed on the report but did not miss any practice time today.

The Cardinals injury report included linebacker Clark Haggans (groin, did not participate); defensive tackle Alan Branch (back, limited); wide receiver Steve Breaston (knee, limited); linebacker Will Davis (groin, limited); wide receiver Early Doucet (groin, limited); defensive end Kenny Iwebema (shoulder, limited); and running back Beanie Wells (knee, limited).
