1 Fall colors 5K

Wild River State Park, Oct. 12, 7:30 a.m.-1 p.m. (race begins at 9 a.m.) Walk or run under the fall colors near the St. Croix River. This 3.1-mile run covers both paved and non-paved trails in the park. Proceeds go to the Friends of Wild River State Park in support of park programs and activities. 2 Autumn Woods Classic

Elm Creek Park Reserve, Oct. 12, 8:30 a.m.-noon

Choose between a 10K run or a 5K run/walk. There’s even a 1K event for families. Courses take a semi-challenging tour of the park’s varied terrain; think asphalt, turf, mountain bike trails and rolling hills. Same-day registration available for $29. 763-559-6700 or www.three riversparks.org.

3 Fall colors bike ride

Sakatah Lake State Park, Oct. 12, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Join a naturalist for a leisurely ride along the Sakatah Singing Hills State Trail. The planned route follows Sakatah Lake State Park to Morristown and back again for an 8-mile trip, with educational stops along the way covering the local landscape and fall leaves. 4 Falling Leaf Moon

Richardson Nature Center,

Oct. 17, 6:30-8 p.m.

Meet at Richardson Nature Center for a moonlit tour of Hyland Lake Park Reserve. Taking advantage of the full moon, this naturalist-led hike promises trees in dramatic silhouette and rustling fall leaves. Ages 6-plus. $5. More information at www.threeriversparks.org.

5 MEA Outdoor Adventure Day

French Regional Park, Oct. 17, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Don’t waste the MEA school break indoors. Get outside for a series of kid-friendly al fresco adventures with a climbing wall, archery lessons and geocaching in the woods. Ages 8-12. $45.
