South Dakota State running back Zach Zenner, a senior from Eagan, highlighted the Associated Press FCS All-America team announced Wednesday.

Zenner, a three-time 2,000-yard rusher, earned first-team honors for the second consecutive year and was a second-team selection as a sophomore. He rushed for 2,019 yards this season, giving him 6,548 yards in his career.

Also on the first team were three players from three-time defending FCS champion North Dakota State: tackle Joe Haeg, a junior from Lake Shore, Minn.; senior defensive end Kyle Emanuel; and senior strong safety Colten Heagle.

South Dakota State also had two second-team selections: freshman wide receiver Jake Wieneke of Maple Grove and senior kicker Justin Syrovatka. The Bison also had a third-team selection in kicker Adam Keller.

Stakes races set

Canterbury Park announced Wednesday that it will hold 24 stakes races with total purses of $1.825 million during the 2015 racing season.

Highlights include the Sept. 6 Festival of Champions for Minnesota-bred horses, which will award $400,000 in purses, and the $200,000 Mystic Lake Derby on Aug. 23, which offers the largest single-race purse of the season. The Minnesota Derby and Minnesota Oaks on Aug. 8 will have purses of $80,000 each.

Canterbury's season runs from May 15 through Sept. 12.

Tapp All-America pick

Gophers sophomore Paige Tapp was named a third-team All-America by the American Volleyball Coaches Association. Tapp, a 6-1 middle blocker from Stewartville, Minn., ranks second in school history for total blocks (171) and blocks per set (1.55) in a single season. Junior outside hitter Daly Santana received All-America honorable mention.

United to open April 11

Minnesota United FC's spring schedule was released Wednesday, along with the rest of the North American Soccer League's. The Loons, who are the defending spring season champions, will play their first match at Tampa Bay on Aprilā€Æ11. Their home opener will be against San Antonio on April 25.
