The Gophers men's and women's hockey teams retained their No. 1 rankings in the U.S. College Hockey Online polls released Monday.

Minnesota's men received 47 of 50 first-place votes after beating then-No. 2 Notre Dame 4-1 on Tuesday and sweeping Alaska Anchorage 4-3 and 7-1 over the weekend. Boston College is No. 2, followed by New Hampshire Quinnipiac and Notre Dame.

The Gophers (16-3-3) play host to No. 6 North Dakota on Friday and Saturday.

The Gophers women received all 15 first-place votes after improving to 22-0 with a pair of 6-3 victories over North Dakota. Boston College, Harvard, Cornell and Boston University completed the top five. Minnesota has outscored its opponents 126-18 this season.

• South Dakota State forward Megan Waytashek, a sophomore from Lino Lakes, was named Summit League women's basketball player of the week. Her highlight was scoring a career-high 30 points, including the winning putback as time expired in a 66-64 victory over Fort Wayne on Saturday.

• Winona State co-offensive coordinator AJ Blazek is leaving the Warriors to become Western Illinois' offensive line coach and running game coordinator.

• The St. Paul Saints re-signed righthanded pitcher Luke Anderson, a Savage native who was 5-3 with a 3.28 ERA in 14 games last season.
