The Wayzata girls' swimming and diving team won its second consecutive Class 2A True Team state meet championship Saturday at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center.

The Trojans posted a team score of 2,447 points, well ahead of runner-up Minnetonka's 1,999.

Wayzata's dominance and depth showed in almost every event. The Trojans had 15 top-three finishes: Eight firsts, four seconds and three thirds. The only event they didn't have at least one top-three place winner was the 500-yard freestyle.

Junior Colleen Donlin had first-place finishes in the 50 and 100 freestyles and anchor legs on the winning 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays. Sophomores Alexis Schaaf and Carly Quast made it to the top spot on the podium three times.

The Lake Conference swept the top four spots in the team competition. Edina was third with 1,973.5 points, followed by Eden Prairie with 1,752.

In Class 1A, Visitation won for the third consecutive year. Breck finished fourth and Blake fifth.

Legacy in liquid

Courtney Evensen graduates this year, but the Armstrong girls' swimming and diving team likely will be well aware of her for years to come.

In five years as a varsity swimmer, Evensen has amassed seven school records: The 100 freestyle (51.25), 200 freestyle (1:48.88), 500 freestyle (4:55.05), 100 butterfly (58.69) and 200 individual medley (2:10.14) and as a member of the 200 freestyle relay (1:36.54) and 400 freestyle relay (3:28.69).

Evensen's older sister Brooke, who graduated in 2012 and swims at Iowa State, owns school records in the 50 freestyle (24.11) and the 100 backstroke (57.74). She also was a member of the record-setting 200 and 400 freestyle relay teams.

Worth noting

• Local and national basketball recruiting sites have reported that Holy Angels center Destinee Oberg, a 6-2 eighth-grader, has been offered a scholarship to play for the University of Minnesota women's program.

• The west metro is home to Ms. Soccer winners April Bockin of Eden Prairie (Class 2A) and Orono's Sophie Babo (1A). Breck's Andrew Stuempfig was the Class 1A Mr. Soccer winner.
