This is Amelia Rayno's second season on the Gophers' basketball beat. She learned college basketball in North Carolina (Go Tar Heels!), where fanhood is not an option. In 2010, she joined the Star Tribune after graduating from Boston's Emerson College, which sadly had no exciting D-I college hoops to latch onto. Amelia has also worked on the sports desk at the Boston Globe and interned at the Detroit News.

The All-Big Ten teams and league honors were announced tonight, and a couple of Gophers got in the mix.

Trevor Mbakwe was named to the second team, selected by the media, and the third team selected by the coaches.

Andre Hollins was named to the media's third team, and received an honorable mention from the coaches.

Mbakwe was also named to the second team by both media and coaches in his junior year. This season, Mbakwe led the Big Ten in rebounding with 8.7 a game, including a conference-leading 3.3 offensive rebounds per game. He also ranked third in field goal percentage (.566) and blocks per game (1.5).

Hollins averaged 13.9 points a game, 10th in the Big Ten. He ranked sixth in three-point percentage (.401) and seventh in free throw percentage (.80)

Player of the Year was Michigan's Trey Burke.
