MADISON, Wis. — Former Rusk County board member James Edming has won a close Republican primary for an Assembly seat in northwestern Wisconsin.
The Government Accountability Board reported Tuesday that Edming defeated former hand-held computer designer Michael Bub by 19 votes in a recount in Assembly District 87. Edming led by 17 votes following the canvass, which finalizes the election results.
Edming picked up one vote, and Bub lost one vote in the recount. Votes for the other two candidates in the four-way primary did not change.
The GAB says it will certify the results of the recount in five business days if there is no court appeal.
If there's no appeal, Edming will face Democrat Richard Pulcher in the general election for the seat held by retiring Republican Rep. Mary Williams.
