A man who led police from at least two agencies on a high-speed chase overnight is in the hospital after crashing in Maplewood, authorities said.

A Metro Transit police officer spotted a pick-up truck driving erratically around 2:30 a.m. near the Franklin Avenue light-rail station in south Minneapolis and attempted to pull the driver over. The pick-up took off as the officer gave chase, said Metro Transit spokesman John Siqveland.

A second Metro Transit officer joined the chase as the driver, traveling at high rates of speed, drove north on Interstate 35W and east on Hwy. 36. Officers from Roseville got involved as the man passed Hwy. 36 and Lexington Avenue, Siqveland said.

The chase ended when the man crashed near Arcade Street and Burke Court in Maplewood.

The driver was conscious and breathing when taken to Regions Hospital with unknown injuries, Siqveland said.
