MADISON, Wis. — State regulators are advising consumers to pay attention to the price they're charged if they shop at American TV & Appliance liquidation sales around Wisconsin.
Consumer protection officials say inspectors conducted a price verification survey at each of the seven American stores in Wisconsin this week and found some items are ringing up higher than the advertised price.
Wisconsin law says consumers are entitled to a refund when they are charged more than the lowest advertised price. Inspectors from the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection checked a total of 325 items at the stores in Appleton, Brown Deer, Madison, Oak Creek and Waukesha.
In a statement, American says it's confident consumers will pay the price as tagged. The company says it has not received any consumer complaints.
