Woman, 78, dies in Racine house fire

RACINE, Wis. — A 78-year-old Racine woman has died after being pulled from her burning home.

Firefighters were called just after 8 a.m. Wednesday and found smoke pouring from the windows and flames inside.

The woman who lived at the house was taken to Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Police identify the victim as Marilyn Christensen. The Journal Times ( ) reports an autopsy is planned.

The fire was quickly extinguished and is under investigation.

The victim's dog also died in the fire.
