Priest gives his car to pope so he can drive

Pope Francis now has his own mini popemobile after getting a good deal on a used car that he plans to drive himself.

Vatican spokesman, the Rev. Ciro Benedettini, said Francis accepted the 1984 Renault 4, donated by a priest in northern Italy who used it to visit parishioners. The four-door car, in papal white, has a stick shift and a new engine. "The pope intends to drive it," Benedettini said. The donor, the 69-year-old Rev. Renzo Zocca, says he took Francis for a short drive in the car at the Vatican on Saturday and that Francis told him he knows how to drive it. Zocca said he thinks Francis will use it for short commutes on Vatican grounds.

Hillary Clinton, Jeb Bush share stage

Hillary Rodham Clinton and Jeb Bush, would-be opponents in the 2016 race to return one of their families to the White House, shared a stage in Philadelphia on Tuesday evening and enjoyed some bipartisan bonhomie. The former Republican governor of Florida celebrated Clinton's commitment to public service as she received the 2013 Liberty Medal at the National Constitution Center.

"Hillary and I … disagree about a few things, but we do agree on the wisdom of the American people — especially those in Iowa and New Hampshire and South Carolina," said Bush, who is chairman of the National Constitution Center.

Former rap mogul arrested: Former hip hop king Marion "Suge" Knight has been arrested on an outstanding warrant after being pulled over for a traffic violation in Los Angeles. Police said the founder of Death Row Records was stopped early Wednesday near Beverly Hills, but declined to say what the alleged traffic violation was. He was booked into county jail and released several hours later on $20,000 bail. Death Row Records helped make stars of rappers such as Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg and Tupac Shakur.

white house performances: Gloria Estefan, Ricky Martin, Arturo Sandoval and other musicians are bringing their music to the White House next week. The latest "In Performance at the White House" program will showcase Latin music during Hispanic Heritage Month. Raul Malo, Price Royce, Romeo Santos, Alejandro Sanz, Natalie Cole and Marco Antonio Solis also are expected to join President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama to help highlight a variety of styles of Latin music. The program will be streamed live and will also be broadcast by PBS stations nationwide on Oct. 8.
