Area college basketball: Tommies crush Auggies

ST. THOMAS 94, AUGSBURG 52: The matchup of MIAC unbeatens at Schoenecker Arena was not much of a contest. Senior guard Will DeBerg scored 23 points as No. 3-ranked Tommies (11-0, 6-0 MIAC) routed the Auggies (9-1, 4-1).
St. Thomas had runs of 13-0 and 13-2 en route to a 45-23 halftime lead and kept pulling away. The Tommies only had four turnovers, had a 38-18 dominance in bench points and shot 54 percent from the field, making 11 of 15 from three-point range.
The Tommies opened up a 1 1/2-game lead over Augsburg in the conference race.
John Nance had 16 points, 11 in the second half, for St. Thomas while Noah Kaiser and Marcus Alipate each had six assists. Brett Rasmussen had 13 points and seven rebounds for the Auggies, who committed 17 turnovers and shot 36 percent.
BETHEL 80, ST. OLAF 66: Taylor Hall scored 35 points and had 18 rebounds as the Royals (7-4, 3-3 MIAC) beat the visiting Oles (3-8, 2-3) for their fifth victory in a row.
CONCORDIA (MOORHEAD) 99, MACALESTER 70: The Cobbers (7-4, 4-2) shot 66.1 percent in beating the visiting Scots. Aaron Lindahl led six Concordia players in double figures with 21 points. Sam Marshall had 22 points and Dylan Kilgour 16 for Macalester (3-7, 0-5).
CARLETON 83, ST. MARY's 60: Tom Sawatzke scored a career-high 27 points as the Knights (6-4, 3-2) beat the Cardinals (1-9, 0-5). Sawatzke scored 16 points in the second half on 6-for-7 shooting on the way to his sixth game of 20 points or more this season.
ST. THOMAS 78, AUGSBURG 55: Kellie Ring had 14 points and seven assists and Anna Smith had 12 points and 12 rebounds to lead the host Tommies (9-1, 7-0) to their 31st consecutive MIAC victory.
GUSTAVUS 87, HAMLINE 57: Britta Rinke scored 17 points and Karina Schroeder scored 16 to help the host Gusties (8-2, 7-0) maintain a share of first place with the Tommies in the MIAC. Steph Pilgrim's 24 points led the Pipers (3-7, 3-4).
CONCORDIA (MOORHEAD) 72, MACALESTER 47: Tricia Sorensen scored 23 points to lead the host Cobbers (7-3, 6-1 MIAC) past the Scots. Kyanna Jones scored 18 to lead the Scots (4-6, 3-4).
ST. BENEDICT 65, ST. CATHERINE 52: Brianna Barrett scored 17 points in leading the host Blazers (8-3, 6-2 MIAC) to victory.
ST. MARY'S 50, CARLETON 34: Jessica Thone scored 11 points and Jamie Stefely scored 10 to lead the Cardinals to a victory in Northfield.
ST. OLAF 46, BETHEL 34: Nikki Frogner scored 17 of her 20 points in the second half, help the visiting Oles rally. The Oles (4-5, 2-5 MIAC) trailed by eight points at halftime but outscored the Royals 34-14 in the second half. Sydney Schultz scored 21 to lead the Royals (1-9, 0-7).
CONCORDIA (ST. PAUL) 70, AUGUSTANA 61: Jasmine Haynes scored 19 points to lead the Golden Bears (7-4, 5-2 NSIC).
