One especially grueling way to get on the PGA golf tour us to earn a card through the tour's six-round qualifying tournament, which ends Monday in California.
Donald Constable, who golfed for the Gophers after transferring from Texas, was in the running for one of those spots heading into today's play. Constable won the state high school golf tournament in 2005 and 2006 while at Minnetonka High School.
Update: Constable shot a 3-under-par 69 in the final round -- giving him a final score of 17 under and putting him in good position for a card. The top 25 finishers and ties, with a handful of exceptions, qualify for 2013 Tour membership.
As of 4 p.m., Constable was one of seven players tied for 21st.
