Zhu Zhu Pets (2009): The line of plush, robotic hamsters had a retail price of $9 but sold for more than $60 because of shortages.
Furby (1998): A $35 electronic, robotic owl-like creature whose speaking capabilities were translated into 24 languages.
Tickle Me Elmo (1996): Based on the Sesame Street character, the plush toy would shake and laugh when squeezed.
Cabbage Patch Kids (1982): The dolls became one of the most popular toy fads of the 1980s.
