The vast amount of media and public interest in the Gen. David Petraeus sex scandal disappoints me. Americans are enthralled with his downfall but show little interest in knowing what's happening to our troops overseas. I'm only 17 years old. Our country has been at war for most of my life. People seem to think of this as normal. I even find myself passing up news about the war ,or at least forgetting to check. That's likely the case with many Americans. And yet, I know our national conscience is out of focus when we give more attention to military scandals than to the service members fighting to protect us and our national interests.
