It's tough to prognosticate about films not screened for review. Usually, it means the studio is worried. Occasionally, it means they have something strange and wonderful on their hands and they don't recognize it. I'm hoping it's the latter case for "The Man With the Iron Fists." (Rated: R for bloody violence, strong sexuality, language and brief drug use.) It's a labor of love from the Wu-Tang Clan's Grammy-winning hip-hop king RZA. He's channeling his decades-long love affair with kung fu actioners into his writing/directing/starring film debut. He plays an olden days blacksmith in China (hey, why not?) who protects his village from evil warriors by fashioning himself a pair of metal boxing gloves. The project was helped along by Eli Roth and Quentin Tarantino, and Russell Crowe and Lucy Liu signed on as co-stars. Fingers crossed. We'll post a review as soon as one becomes available.
