The number of Minnesotans over 65 will more than double in the next two decades, reaching nearly one quarter of the population and placing unprecedented strains on the state's families, infrastructure and health care system. For the first time in Minnesota's history, retirees are expected to outnumber children, meaning dramatic changes in schools, churches, sports leagues and other institutions.
