DFL state Rep. Dan Schoen on Sunday was in for some tough negotiations.

His young son Wyatt was unwilling to accept a mandate to clean his room and practice his letters. Indeed, Wyatt supported riding his bike before entertaining the possibility of room cleaning or letter practicing.

So Schoen, a first-term House member from St. Paul Park, and Wyatt, who will turn five years old this week, took the situation to a conference committee to work out their differences.
