U.S. Rep. John Kline raised almost $200,000 in the first quarter of 2008, leaving him with $509,926 in cash on hand for his reelection bid, according to a report filed with the Federal Election Commission.

Kline, a Republican from the tate's Second District, raised $126,606 from individual donors during that period as well as $67,500 from political action committees (PACs), for a total of $194,106. He spent $82,312.

PACs supporting Kline include those from businesses such as Lockheed Martin, Wal-Mart, Northwest Airlines, and ExxonMobil.

Other PAC support comes from groups such as Friends of Israel, the International Association of Fire Fighters, the National Pro-Life Alliance and the National Funeral Directors.

Democrat Steve Sarvi, an Iraq war veteran and former mayor of Watertown, plans to file his fundraising report by the end of the week, according to a campaign spokeswoman.

Peter Idusogie, who also plans to seek the Democratic nomination, didn't immediately return a call asking when he plans to file his report.

Kline also received $1,000 from former Republican Sen. Rudy Boschwitz this quarter, $500 from the president of "Armor Shield," a Kentucky-based company that manufactures body armor, and $1,000 from Glen Taylor, the owner of the Minnesota Timberwolves.
