MIAMI — A man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for his conviction in South Florida of supporting terrorism in a case in which an FBI employee posed online as a terror financing middleman.

The U.S. Attorney's Office in Miami reports that 31-year-old Gufran Ahmed Kauser Mohammed was sentenced Wednesday. He pleaded guilty in July to one count of conspiring to provide material support to terrorists.

Mohammed is a naturalized U.S. citizen from India who relocated in 2011 to Saudi Arabia.

Prosecutors say an undercover FBI employee used the chat room to pretend to work with Mohammed on financing for al-Qaida and affiliated terror groups in Syria and East Africa.

Another defendant, Mohamed Hussein Said of Kenya, is maintaining his not guilty plea.
