On Sunday, April 30, 2023, Clyde Lund passed away at the age of 88. He was born on July 19, 1934, to Allen (Ollie) and Myrtle Lund in Brainerd, Minnesota. As a boy Clyde moved from Minneapolis to rural Aitken, MN, where he graduated as the Salutatorian of his class. He received a scholarship to St. Cloud Teacher's College and graduated with degrees in English, Speech, and Drama in 1956, going on to receive a Master's degree in Theatre. He later pursued a Doctorate in Theater at the University of Minnesota. Clyde started his career as a drama and speech teacher in Chisholm, Minnesota; Great Falls, Montana, and Jackson, Minnesota. However, his love for acting soon took over, and he became a fixture at theaters in the Twin Cities such as The Chanhassen Dinner Theater, The History Theater, The Children’s Theatre, The Mixed Blood Theater, and The Guthrie 2. He was an active member of AFTRA and the Actors' Equity Association. Outside of his acting career, Clyde spent summers exploring the Boundary Waters and loved nothing more than fishing from a canoe. Clyde was known for his genuine warmth, thoughtful mindfulness, and infectious joie de vivre. He was smart, perceptive, and keenly present, and people sought him out for his sage counsel. Clyde was a storyteller (with his words and his hands). He could fix anything, from a broken door to a broken heart, sometimes described as "the man every man would want for a father." He did beautiful work, be it on the stage, in his woodshop, over the rosette pot, or in his garden. Clyde loved people and believed there was good to be found in every soul and it was his job to celebrate it, recently leaning across the table to tell a young child he had just met, "You are important." Clyde is survived by his wife of 65 years, Theresa Lund; children Carrie (Lance) Johnson, Chris Lund, Cassie (Richard) Lund, Elissa (Norby) Kuchenmeister; brothers Robert (Margareta) Lund and Roger "Buddy" Lund; grandchildren Lindsay (Eric Tholozan) Johnson, Annelisse (Ian McIntosh) Johnson, Jesse Johnson, Annie Kuchenmeister, Nissa Kuchenmeister, and Oskar Kuchenmeister; and great-grandson Eli Johnson Tholozan. Please join us in celebrating Clyde's life Saturday, May 6, 2023, at 10:30am, with visitation 1/2 hour prior at Bethlehem Covenant Church, 3141 43rd Ave S, Mpls MN 55406. In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that you go out of your way to make someone's day - deliver those flowers, bring a kid fishing, or take your family on a night ride to search for wild animals. Above all, remember to "hug in" and "hug out." Washburn-McReavy.com Nokomis Park Chapel 612-721-1651
