Haws, Kathleen Rose (Cummiskey) age 92, a loving resident of St. Benedict's Senior Community, St. Cloud, MN, died September 25, 2019. Kathleen Cummiskey was born October 25, 1926, to Francis J. and Margaret Ellen (Walker) Cummiskey in Mankato, MN. She was a 1944 Loyola High School graduate and a 1948 Mankato Teacher's College graduate (B.S. Mathematics and Sciences). Kathleen married Terrance Haws on June 8, 1948. Terry was a teacher and coach at St. James High School, Cathedral High School and assistant football coach and head wrestling coach at St. John's University until his untimely death in 1973 at the age of 49. Kathleen, following Terry's death, continued to raise their 10 children while retaining her wonderful sense of humor, positive outlook, and strong faith. Kathleen's extended family included many priests, monks and nuns of the St. Cloud Diocese, St. John's and St. Bene-dict's monasteries. Kathleen was an avid sports fan, a gifted knitter and accomplished embroiderer. She would often follow games on tv and radio while knitting or embroidering and knew exactly what was happening in each game! Left to cherish her memory are her children: Patrick (Mary Ann) Haws, Avon; Kevin (Yuko) Haws, San Diego, CA; Loras (Gretchen), Kilkenny; Maureen (Thomas) Callinan, Scottsdale; Kathryn (William) Spooner, Paynesville; Thomas Haws, Edina; William Haws, San Diego; Rosemary Wentzell, Edina; Peggy Haws, St. Cloud; 26 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren. Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband Terry, daughter Mary Bridget, son Brian, and siblings Jerome, Vincent, Earl, Paul, Loren, and Dolores. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 am Saturday, October 26, 2019, at St. Mary's Cathedral Catholic Church in St. Cloud, followed by burial in Assumption Cemetery. Father Scott Pogatchnik will officiate. Visitation is on Friday, October 25, 2019, 4-8 pm and 9-9:30 am on Saturday, October 26, 2019, at the Danial Funeral Home in St. Cloud. Memorials are preferred to the Kathleen Haws Scholarship Fund Stewardship Coord., SJU Luke 128, PO Box 7222, Collegeville, MN 56321. Kathleen deeply appreciated the care she received at SBSC and would often say, "They take such good care of me here." Her family thanks everyone at SBSC and her CentraCare hospice team for their loving care.
