Magnuson, Timothy Scott "Tim" Age 57. Our beloved son, brother and life partner, Dr. Timothy Magnuson, PhD, passed away from natural causes Friday, October 4th, 2019 while hiking in the back country of Yellowstone National Park. Tim was born in Minneapolis on June 20, 1962. He grew up in the Mound Westonka area, graduating from the University of Minnesota with a degree in biochemistry. He later attended the University of Idaho, attaining a doctorate degree in bacteriology. For the last 18 years he has been a professor of micro biology in the Department of Biological Sciences at Idaho State University in Pocatello where he excelled as a teacher, researcher and mentor. Tim's warmth, easygoing nature, and sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him. Tim was preceded in death by parents William and Joyce (Holmbeck) Magnuson. He is survived by his loving life partner Rhesa Ledbetter, mother Lorretta Magnuson, brothers Jeffrey (Michelle), Gregory (Sarah), Douglas (Cathy), John (Cathy), and sister Gretta (Jon). He's also survived by many nieces and nephews. Tim had many friends with whom he shared his love of playing music and exploring the outdoors. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Tim Magnuson Scholarship Fund or the Idaho State University Outdoor Adventure Center. A celebration of Tim's life will be held on Sunday, November 10th, 12:00 to 4:00 PM at the Gillespie Center, 2590 Commerce Blvd., Mound, MN.
