Packenham, Richard Arthur of Hugo, MN, previously from Blaine, MN and retired to Chetek, WI, died on Tuesday August 6th. Our Dad breathed his last breath on Tuesday August 6th at Good Life Senior Living in Hugo, MN. Richard worked for more than 30 years at Minnesota Mutual Fire and Casualty and when he started in the mail room never knew he would reach the title of Vice President for the Company before he retired. We knew our Dad always as a man of service to others. Most recently he was President of the Chetek Lions Club and was awarded the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award for Humanitarian work. He was also a devoted Fire Fighter with the Blaine Spring Lake Park Fire Department for 21 years from 1969 to 1990. Reaching the rank of District Chief. While with the Fire Department he was on the Board of Directors for the Firemen's Relief Association and was the Treasurer. One thing our Dad loved most was Fishing for Walleye in Canada. I know he left a piece of himself there each time he fished there. I hope there is a Trout Lake like the one in Red Lake Ontario when he gets to heaven. In all situations life brings to children who grow into adults our Dad was always there for us. We knew he would be there no matter what. A call to Dad meant we would have an ear and advice. We didn't always want the advice, but it was good advice and made us into better people. We always felt love and respect. Always! This man could not have been more loved by his family. Preceded by wife Sandra Jo Packenham (Keller) from Janes-ville, Iowa; devoted and loved dog Brandy; sister Jane Gjerstad, parents George and Beatrice Packen-ham. Survived by daughter Ellen Stanley and son Maxim Stanley; son Thomas Packenham and his wife Jill with children Michael and Rachael; daughter Linda Soyett and her husband Michael and furry children Dusty and Dillon. Memorial service Friday, August 16, 4-7 PM, Blaine Station 3 Fire Department, 11920 Ulysses St NE, Blaine, MN 55434. Food will be served.
