Duntley, John Mitchell October 25, 1924 - May 10, 2019 Age 94, passed peacefully surrounded by family in Green Valley, AZ after a short illness. He was a proud WW II veteran, devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and faithful servant. Preceded in death by his mother and father, Jessie and Lloyd Duntley, brothers Fred Duntley and Burton Duntley, sisters Phoebe (Houston) Jenkins and Ann (John) Porisch and grandson Jesse Duntley. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Margaret and sons Tom (Susan) of New York, NY, David (Ronna Dansky) of Seattle, WA, John, Jr (Jodie) of Hudson, WI, granddaughter Janey Scrivner (Dan) and great-granddaughter Charlotte of Bloomington, MN. John was born October 25, 1924 in his beloved hometown of Walker, MN and spent his childhood years in Minneapolis and Walker. After graduating from Washburn High School in 1942, he joined the US Army Air Corp 485th Bomb Group during World War II, serving as a B-24 navigator in Italy. He returned from the war in 1945 as a surviving son following the death of his two brothers, Fred in the Philippines and Burt in England. John married his true love, Margaret Hughes, March 20, 1948, graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1949 and spent a successful career as an engineer and business problem solver with several national firms and later with his own consulting company. He was also active in the Plymouth community affairs and at St. David's Episcopal Church. He loved most to be with his beloved Margaret, his three sons and their families. Throughout life John and Margaret enjoyed each other's company in all pursuits from sports to theater to travel and loved spending winter months in Green Valley, AZ in their retirement years. John was an avid do-it-yourself practitioner and passed on those attributes and that spirit to family and friends. A celebration of John's life will be conducted at St. Davids Episcopal Church, 13000 St. Davids Road, Minnetonka, MN, Saturday, June 8th. at 10:30 am. Memorials to St. David's in lieu of flowers.
