Horsager, Jerome "Jerry" E. Age 83 of Minneapolis passed away peacefully on March 23, 2019. Jerry grew up in Berlin, ND and always bragged about graduating 3rd in his class (out of a graduating class of 3 that year). He was honored with a prestigious appointment to West Point by U.S. Senator Milton Young from North Dakota and was known by nickname "the Berlin historian" by Milt's grandson, Curt Young. Jerry joined the Air Force after Berlin High School and attended NDSU and would go on to graduate as an Electrical Engineer. He spent his career developing and managing thought leading projects in aerospace, defense computer systems, cellular and wireless technologies. He enjoyed sharing stories about projects he’d worked on during his career including Polaris submarine guidance systems and drones, Control Data Corporation (23 years) developing disk drives and PLATO computer systems (a predecessor computer to the IBM personal computer). He spent time at StorageTek, then Norand developing tracking systems for FedEx and co-founded Racotek that developed wireless computer terminals. His career led to many cherished life-long friendships. Aviation was a major influence on his life, he earned his private pilot's license in the early 70's and owned a variety of private aircraft over the years. During retirement, he was active at his favorite airport, Fleming Field in South St. Paul, with the Commemorative Air Force. He also spent many hours at the Palm Springs Air Museum visiting and volunteering. The annual EAA AirVenture Airshow in Oshkosh, Wisconsin was a place for him to enjoy his favorite things; family, friends and airplanes. He enjoyed the summer weekends with family and friends at the cabin in Minnesota. He loved the outdoors and looked forward to snowmobiling, boating, fishing and hunting and winters in California. He enjoyed time spent with his family and following their school and sports activities. He was a loyal MN Twins and Vikings fan, no matter the score. Jerome was preceded in death by his parents, Corinne and Elmer Horsager and grandparents, Ole and Olava Horsager that emigrated from Norway. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Barb; his family: brother, Zackary, and his children and their families. Also, many in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews and many dear friends. Services will be held on Saturday, May 4th at River Hills United Methodist in Burnsville, MN. Visitation at 10:00 AM, Memorial Service at 11:00 AM. Lunch provided immediately following. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to River Hills United Methodist Church. whitefuneralhomes.com
